Blog Assignment 7 April

Pontificate for a few moments on what you did in your classes last quarter. Remark on your grade performance, whether you came prepared to class or not, did you study for any of your tests and/or exams, etc...

You will be setting two goals for the fourth quarter. These are going to be SMART goals. SMART is an acronym that stands for: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-bound.

You are two write two goals that align to the acronym SMART. One can be small and simple. One example (that cannot be your goal): " I will bring a notebook to every class, every day for the rest of the quarter." Bringing something simple to keep you prepared for class every day would align to all of the parts of a SMART goal.

I also want you to write a large goal. One example could relate to your average test score in a class.

With each goal, I want you to describe two things you will do to help you attain your two goals. We will be checking in on your goals throughout the quarter.

Due end of class 7 April 2014.

Week In Review Post - 6 March

For your end of week post, I'd like for you to reflect on each one of your classes. For each class I want you to cover the following:

  1. What the major topic of learning was for the week.
  2. One assignment that you liked in particular.
  3. One assignment that you didn't particularly like.
  4. What you expect to learn today in class.
    • Maybe you know that you're going to take a quiz. If you are learning something in history about World War II and you talked yesterday about the Normandy landing, you'll talk about allied advancement today. Use the information that you have and make an inference about what you'll do today.
Part of learning to be a better student is being able to summarize and make inferences using the information that you have at hand.

Do this for each of your seven classes. Due at the end of the period.

"My Grades Last Week" (Original Post - 18 February)

18 February (Original Post Date from some other blog I did but should have been on this one, I just pushed the wrong button, or something like that.)

My grades are so awesome, you have no idea. In Mr. Longo's Physiology class, I have like a 14%! I don't do any of the work, I rarely show up, and when I do, I don't pay attention. I could improve my grade in that class by generally being a good student. You know, showing up to school, sitting attentively in class, completing assignments on time and with gusto, things like that. Perhaps I should try.

(Class 2/3, etc...)

For those of you that need to re-post blog posts from other blogs on your blog that's actually graded...

1. It's likely going to be easiest to copy and paste your posts from other blogs into a word document. Then, compose a new blog post and start it as I did above both in the title and body.

2. Post all of your re-posts as individual posts. (i.e. if you posted three times elsewhere, you should post three times in your correct blog.) If you're wondering which blog to post to, look for my comments. If you find a comment from me, you've hit paydirt.

3. Shoot me an e-mail (alongo@mapleton.k12.or.us) to let me know that you've completed blog posts. This will give me the information I should need to grade the posts that you've done.

Assignment 25 February

Okay folks, Mrs. Longo is sick again today and so I'll be taking the kiddo to daycare and coming late again. Here's what I'd like for you to do today:

  1. Sign in to your CIS account. (I'm sorry if you've forgotten your username or password for the umpteenth time, please figure it out. I'll be available via comment to this blog post until 8:20 AM if you really need your password re-set.)
  2. Hover over the "Education" tab and click on "College Admissions and Work Keys Practice Tests." This will take you to a series of screens before getting to a neat looking one with lots of color and links. Just say "yes" or "continue" to any questions that arise.
  3. On the left, click on "College Preparation." Then click on "PSAT/NMSQT Preparation" in the center of the screen.
  4. You'll want to add the "Critical Reading Test 1" to your "My Center." (There is a link to the right of the test.) This will take you to "My Center" where you should take the test.
  5. If you finish the test today, first I'd like for you to take a screenshot of your final score. To do this, press the "Print Scrn" button on your keyboard (it's on the upper right hand side of the keyboard). Then open up MS Paint and phsy "Ctrl + v" to paste the screenshot into the paint file. Save this to your u: drive. Then, I'd like for you to compose a blog post on how you did and some things that you learned about the test from taking a practice test. you could talk about how questions are worded, formatted etc...is there vocabulary that you didn't know? If so, type out some of those terms in your blog post with their definitions, they could help you or someone that comments on your post. Insert the screenshot that you took into your blog post.
  6. If you don't finish the test today. Click on the blue "Finish Later" button on the top of the screen. You should work until the bell rings.
